Since 2005, sweaters have been deconstructed and recombined into one of a kind hats here at Cimarrona, located in Denton, Texas. Owner Leslie Kregel harvests wool, cashmere and angora sweaters from thrift shops and garage sales for her creations. The sweaters are washed, dried, brushed and disassembled before being refashioned into one-of-a-kind articles. Leslie’s accidental shrinking of a favorite wool backpacking sweater led to the first hat. Her background in art and passionate interest in the outdoors, as well as a lifelong habit of refurbishing found items provided the backdrop for the creation of a sustainable and environmentally friendly business.
